Advanced Life Support Ready Course (1 day)

Overview

Advanced Life Support Ready is a one-day simulation-based course designed to support the wider workforce ahead of Resuscitation Council UK e-ALS or the 2-day ALS course. It provides a structured, supportive introduction to the clinical knowledge, practical skills, teamworking, and human factors that underpin advanced life support.

The course uses expert-led teaching, skills stations, and simulation to help learners build confidence in recognising deterioration, applying structured approaches to assessment and management, and participating effectively in cardiac arrest and peri-arrest care.

It is intended as a preparatory course rather than a substitute for formal ALS training and is particularly useful for learners who want rehearsal and practice before undertaking an assessed RCUK provider course.

It is suitable for staff with limited previous ALS exposure, staff returning to acute care or emergency response roles, and clinicians who want to refresh core principles before formal ALS training.

Learners are supported to progress from resuscitation team member behaviours towards leadership skills, with a focus on communication, role allocation, situational awareness, and coordinated team response.

Simulation is used throughout to rehearse realistic clinical scenarios and support safe practice, reflection, and feedback in preparation for e-ALS or the 2-day ALS course.
